A LEGACY CONTINUES.
IN MARCH 2020, TANNINGER ACQUIRED THE ICONIC ELKTON HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN QUINCY, ILLINOIS, WHICH MAINTAINS 54 APARTMENTS. THE HOTEL WAS BUILT IN 1924 AS A COLLABORATION PROJECT BY LOCAL ARCHITECTS AS A NEW HOME FOR THE LOCAL ELKS CLUB. IN 1949, THE UPPER FLOORS WERE CONVERTED INTO APARTMENTS, AND THE ELKS CLUB CLUBROOMS WERE CONVERTED INTO THE POPULAR PATIO RESTAURANT, WHICH OPENED IN 1959 AT THE SUGGESTION OF GUESTS AND RESIDENTS OF THE HOTEL WHO WANTED A PLACE TO ENJOY BREAKFAST. TANNER’S GREAT-GRANDMOTHER “NANNY GARDNER” OPENED THE RESTAURANT AND WAITED TABLES UNTIL HER RETIREMENT IN 1994.
